ZAGREB, Feb 1 (Hina) - Croatian parliament president Vlatko
Pavletic on Tuesday expressed hoped the new composition of the
House of Representatives would make use of positive experience, and
introduce changes enabling the Lower House to do a more substantial
and better job.
Pavletic, who presided the Lower House over the past four years,
said he was sure the changes in the Rule Book would go in the
direction, enabling more polemical debates, especially after an MP
requests the right to rebut.
Speaking about the role of his party, the formerly ruling Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ), Pavletic said that as the single strongest
party in the new Lower House, the HDZ would have enough strength to
include in debates its most willing and skilled MPs.
Speaking about ideas to form a shadow cabinet, Pavletic said it
would be good given that half of HDZ's former ministers have Lower
House seats. Together with a high number of people with excellent
knowledge of various fields, they could follow the ministries'
work, he added.
We shall be a constructive Opposition, supporting everything aimed
at resolving the problems of the Croatian state and people,
Pavletic said.
