ZAGREB, Jan 25 (Hina) - The winning coalition of six parties on
Tuesday submitted to the opposition a draft of the distribution of
functions in working bodies of the Croatian National Parliament
House of Representatives.
According to the draft, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) -
Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) coalition would have 10
chairman and vice-chairman seats in committees, other four parties
four, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) five, and the Croatian
Party of Rights (HSP) - Croatian Christian Democratic Union
(HKDU)coalition and national minorities one each, while regional
parties would get two vice-chairman positions.
The motion will be discussed by party bodies on Thursday.
The HDZ was offered chairman seats in committees for the family,
youth and sports; for immigration, war veterans, agriculture,
village and peasants, and the Maritime Affairs, Transport and
Communications Committee.
After the meeting Vladimir Seks told reporters the HDZ should,
according to the number of won seats in the elections, get seven or
eight chairman seats in parliamentary bodies.
Mato Arlovic of the SDP said the winning coalition had offered the
opposition more leading seats than had been the case in the last
Lower House mandate.
He expressed conviction that negotiations would be successful.
