ZAGREB, Jan 3 (Hina) - The head of the National Electoral Commission, Marijan Ramuscak, on Monday afternoon told reporters the election for the Croatian Parliament's House of Representatives was proceeding peacefully. At a session
held at 4pm today, the Commission considered about ten, not particularly important objections, Ramuscak said. Ramuscak relayed information by the Interior Ministry's Operative Headquarters according to which there had been no major incidents at polling stations. "We can say with certainty that the election is proceeding peacefully," Ramuscak said. ZAGREB, Jan 3 (Hina) - The head of the National Electoral
Commission, Marijan Ramuscak, on Monday afternoon told reporters
the election for the Croatian Parliament's House of
Representatives was proceeding peacefully. At a session held at 4pm
today, the Commission considered about ten, not particularly
important objections, Ramuscak said.
Ramuscak relayed information by the Interior Ministry's Operative
Headquarters according to which there had been no major incidents
at polling stations. "We can say with certainty that the election is
proceeding peacefully," Ramuscak said.
Information submitted by police departments referred mostly to
physical assaults, that is, cases of voters' pushing away members
of voters' committees. One such case happened at a polling station
in Lovran, and another polling station in Varazdin, where a voter
pushed away the president of the voters' committee, who is his
brother.
Commenting on the objections the Commission considered at the
afternoon session, Ramuscak said the most important one referred to
an article published in today's issue of 'Novi list' daily, in which
journalist Drazen Vukov-Colic analysed the election campaign.
The daily has certainly violated the legal obligations of the media
blackout, Ramuscak said. He added the Commission did not receive
any objections regarding out-of-country voting on the territory of
Bosnia-Herzegovina.
