ZAGREB, Jan 18 (Hina) - Unlike other presidential candidates, I
believe there are many things I don't know and that is why I want to
talk to citizens and experts and become acquainted with problems,
independent presidential candidate Slaven Letica said at Tuesday's
meeting with citizens, called "Open Day".
Citizens were interested in Letica's stands regarding
privatisation, army, tourism, and economy.
Luckily, the process of privatisation in Croatia has not been
completed, Letica said, adding that privatised 'companies, not
including minor exceptions, have ended up in hopelessness and
crime.'
Speaking about the resumption of the privatisation process, Letica
said he supported voucher privatisation so that citizens could
sense at least a minimum of justice.
As regards tourism, Letica suggests the Austrian model, in which
municipalities which are not close to highways are exempt from
taxes. It is important for tourism to devise a complete programme,
which is a process which needs the help of foreign politics.
Croatia's potential in tourism is worthless if it is not
accompanied by the development of economy, he said.
Speaking about Homeland War soldiers, Letica said due to amassed
problems he could not promise them houses or apartments but he could
promise to fight for the dignity of man.
