ZAGREB, Jan 4 (Hina) - The Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS) gave up on its presidential candidate Zlatko Tomcic and would support Stipe Mesic of the Croatian People's Party (HNS), HSS president Zlatko Tomcic told Hina Wednesday
following a closed session of the party's presidency. Tomcic said the party had decided not to nominate its candidate in the upcoming presidential elections primarily due to financial difficulties. "The HSS does not wish to enter into debts, and the results of parliamentary elections are not favourable for a HSS presidential candidate, so we are giving up on my candidacy, although I do have close to 30,000 signatures," Tomcic said.(hina) lml mm
