SEKS DEEMS UNNECESSARY FOR HDZ PRESIDENCY TO VOTE ON CANDIDACY

ZAGREB, Jan 4 (Hina) - Vice-president of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) Vladimir Seks said ahead of a HDZ Presidency session Wednesday that he held it unnecessary for Presidency members to vote on his running as candidate in the forthcoming presidential elections in Croatia. According to regulations on the election of HDZ presidency candidates, HDZ Presidency should, by secret ballot, vote on candidates, Seks said in a press statement. He recalled that part of the Presidency members had publicly stated they would vote on one candidate. Respecting the reasons and assessments a part of the Presidency members stated publicly about candidates who registered their intention to run as presidential candidates, Seks held as unnecessary for the HDZ Presidency to vote on him as a HDZ presidential candidate. I, thus, do not give my consent for voting on me, he said. Seks stressed that he would on Thursday decide whether he would accept the presidential candidacy when one hundred members of the HDZ Head Committee vote on his running as the party's candidate in the upcoming elections.
