ZAGREB, Nov 23 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament on Friday unanimously adopted a law on the prevention of drug abuse, which provides for the establishment of therapeutic communities and state centres for the treatment of drug
addiction. The law envisages stricter penalties for the possession, sale and advertising of narcotics and defines a system of education about the harmfulness of narcotics. The government has been obliged to propose the establishment of a system of institutions in charge of caring for drug addicts and helping them reintegrate in the society. The parliament also adopted a report on the prevention of drug abuse for last year. The session continued with a debate about a bill on the execution of the state budget for 2002.(hina) rml
