ZAGREB, Nov 21 (Hina) - The Croatian Radio Television (HRT) Council
discussed the HRT programme at a session on Wednesday. As the
session lasted several hours, it was decided that a decision on the
establishment and functioning of programme councils and a proposal
by Council member Ante Covic that a procedure aimed at relieving HRT
director Mirko Galic of duty be postponed for the next session.
Commenting on the autumn programme scheme, Council members were
most critical about the news programme and the central newscast.
Most objections referred to the unprofessional coverage of last
month's rally of the national headquarters for the protection of
Homeland War values in Zagreb.
The Council also objected to the unprofessional coverage of
President Stjepan Mesic's visit to Israel, which, some members
claimed, had not been given due coverage.
It was concluded that the HRT management should consider all
objections presented at today's session and discuss the need to
increase the level of professionalism and objectivity in
reporting.
