GOVERNMENT ORDERS CARRYING OUT ANTI-TERRORIST MEASURES

ZAGREB, Nov 22 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Thursday entrusted competent state bodies with ensuring the implementation of anti-terrorist measures contained in the UN Security Council's Resolution on the prevention of terrorism. In view of a consistent and operational execution of the obligations stated in the Resolution, the government entrusted all state bodies with amending relevant laws and regulations, and with considering and amending bills and regulations which are being formulated or will soon be enacted. The government also decided to establish a task force for monitoring the implementation of the Resolution on a national level. This task force is obliged to regularly inform the Security Council on undertaken measures, activities and the implementation of national obligations. The 1373 resolution demands: preventing and criminalising all forms of financing of terrorism, immediately freezing all funds associated with terrorism, severing funding channels for terrorists, denying safe havens, i.e. providing asylum, prosecuting in line with the gravity of the crime, cooperating in investigation, and introducing effective border control and the control of the issuing of identity papers.
