BASIS FOR SALARIES OF PUBLIC SERVANTS WILL REMAIN SAME

ZAGREB, Nov 13 (Hina) - The salary basis for civil servants will remain unchanged and will amount to 4,232 kuna, the president of the Union of Civil Servants and Government Employees, Ivica Ihas, said on Monday night. He, however, could not estimate whether the salaries would remain at the current level. Until we examine in detain the government's amendments to the regulation of coefficients which was presented by Vice-Premier Goran Granic, we cannot assess whether the salaries of civil servants would remain at the present level, Ihas said after negotiations at the government about a collective agreement for the public sector. Ihas said the coefficients have not been raised, but were levelled with those of public servants. According to him, the government's suggested amendments lacked a comprehensive proposal for coefficients of those employed in the judiciary. The amendments to the regulations do not include the coefficients of those employed at the Interior Ministry, Police Trade Union president Dubravko Jagic told Hina, and announced that the issue would be discussed within a fortnight.
