PM: GOVT. WILL PREVENT ANY COVER-UP IN KIDNEY PATIENT DEATHS PROBE

ZAGREB, Oct 15 (Hina) - Materials relevant for an investigation into the deaths of 21 kidney patients are kept at a safe place and the Government will do all it can to prevent any cover-up and dodging of responsibility, Prime Minister Ivica Racan said during a visit to Zagreb's clinical centre Rebro on Monday. The fact that since Saturday, when contentious dialysis filters by the US company Baxter were withdrawn from use, no new death has been registered is another indicator as to the suspected cause of the tragedy, Racan said. "We are aware that this is a large company and that everybody will want to prove they are not responsible, however the government is not interested in whether Baxter is a large or small company but in the truth alone, because it owes the truth to Croatian citizens and patients, particularly the families whose members have died," Racan said.(hina) sb rml
