EVENTS AT FORMER MILITARY PRISON IN PRELIMINARY INQUIRY

SPLIT, Sept 25 (Hina) - The Split-Dalmatia County state prosecutor has not yet requested the county investigating judge to probe into events which took place at the Lora military prison in Split during the 1990s Homeland War as preliminary inquiries are not over. "The Military Police and the Split-Dalmatia Police Department are continuing, at my orders, to take all measures to unveil the punishable acts and their perpetrators at the former military prison at the Lora military port. Reported cases are being investigated first," county state prosecutor Mladen Bajic told Hina on Tuesday. He declined, however, to disclose details of the preliminary inquiry. Bajic confirmed he requested legal assistance from Yugoslav judicial bodies. The first testimonies about Lora originated, via the Internet, in Yugoslavia, where former inmates reside. "In May of this year, the Yugoslav Justice Ministry submitted to me the coded depositions of around 50 witnesses living in Yugoslavia, but we also need full names of witnesses who can make their deposition before the judicial bodies of the country they live in, under a full name and responsibility," Bajic said.
