ZAGREB, Oct 5 (Hina) - Talks between Croatian government representatives and public service unions on a new collective agreement came to a standstill on Friday, the first day of collective bargaining, due to disagreements over the
protocol the talks are to be held in line with. At today's first round of talks, government representatives and unions exchanged objections about draft agreements. During a 30-minute meeting, it was agreed that two representatives of the government and unions each would try to agree on the protocol over the next seven days so that bargaining could continue. The unions of public service employees rejected the government's draft even before the start of the talks, judging it reduced the already limited rights of public service employees. The unions have taken as the starting point the previous collective agreement the government cancelled last week.(hina) rml
