ZAGREB, Oct 1 (Hina) - Croatia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) climbed by 4.7 percent in the second quarter of 2001 as against the second quarter of 2000.
ZAGREB, Oct 1 (Hina) - Croatia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
climbed by 4.7 percent in the second quarter of 2001 as against the
second quarter of 2000.#L#
The GDP has really risen for the seventh consecutive trimester,
according to the national Bureau of Statistics.
The latest increase of the 4.7 percent in the second trimester of
2001 was the highest in the past three years.
Categories of consumption which uplifted the GDP are investments
with a 7.7-percent-increase and personal consumption with a 6.8-
percent-increase in the said quarter.
At the same time, government spending has been on the decline for
five consecutive quarter. It fell by 3.9 percent in the second
quarter this year compared to the same quarter last year, and this
was its biggest drop.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, the GDP came to 42.6 billion
kuna (approximately 5.25 billion US dollars), expressed in the
current prices.
