MESIC DEFENDS HIS ANTI-TERRORIST PLAN

ZAGREB, Sept 29 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic stated Saturday reports dooming the anti-terrorist plan, presented during his recent visit to Slovakia, were deliberately being served to the public. "This is either a case of deliberate misinformation, or complete noncomprehension," he said. The Croatian president put forward his plan on the global fight against terrorism during a lecture at the Bratislava Komensky University, but it will officially be presented at the Vilnius group meeting in Sofia next month. He proposes the Anti-terrorist Coalition efforts be jointly coordinated by all member-states through early detection of terrorist activity, groups and individuals, and by countries helping each other to process cases of terrorism. Both big and small countries should cooperate as part of the anti- terrorist alliance, "because they are all endangered, and we can all help each other," Mesic said. If the wave of terrorism was not stopped, that could be fatal for the entire civilisation, Mesic assessed, adding his proposal does not have "an anti-Islamic dimension," nor is "calling for a war between civilisations", but is based on dialogue and tolerance. However, he concluded, "there is no dialogue or tolerance in terrorism, no matter its colour or creed." (hina) js
