SPLIT SHIPYARD HANDS OVER TANKER TO GREEK CLIENT SPLIT, Sept 21 (Hina) - The Brodosplit shipbuilding company from the southern city of Split handed over a tanker with a carrying capacity of 45,000 dead-weight to the Athens shipping
agency European Navigation on Friday. The hand-over ceremony was attended by Croatian Economy Minister Goranko Fizulic and the Greek company's owner Spyros Karnessi, who said the ship was of high quality and entirely hand-made, which made it particularly valuable. Fizulic said the ship, worth USD27 million, was the fourth of six ships the Split shipyard would build this year and the third of four for the Greek client. The tankers are 184 metres long, 32 metres wide and 18 metres high. They are powered by a 9,180 kW engine, which can develop a speed of 16 knots.(hina) rml
