LJUBLJANA, Aug 27 (Hina) - A Slovene army representative confirmed on Monday that the Slovene Navy patrol ship and the US Navy USS Tycoon, which has been anchored in the northern Adriatic port of Kopar since Thursday, would hold a
joint shooting exercise in Kopar Bay on Tuesday. The Slovene ship will use heavy 7.27-millimetre machine-guns, while the US ship will use slightly heavier machine-guns, said Captain Matjaz Bizjak, adding this was a routine exercise. The Ankaran, which is about 25 metres long, was bought in Israel six years ago and is the only such vessel in the Slovene armed forces. Slovene authorities have made no comment on the criticisms of the prefect of Croatia's northern Adriatic Istria County, Ivan Jakovcic, who has expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that the exercise is taking place in the peak season in Istria.(hina) sb rml
