PULA, Aug 28 (Hina) - Speaking about a joint military exercise of Slovene and American navies in the northern Adriatic Kopar Bay, which is to start on Tuesday, Istria County prefect Ivan Jakovcic protested at today's session of the
county leadership saying it was completely thoughtless to organise a demonstration of force during the peak tourist season. "It is inadmissible that someone should decide to shoot and conduct military operations at sea in Trieste Bay at this time of year," Jakovcic said. The Croatian defence ministry said in a statement yesterday that it had not been informed about the exercise of the US and Slovene navies in Kopar Bay. The media reported that one Slovene and one USA Navy warship would participate in the exercise. The two navies will carry out joint shooting and maritime traffic control exercises.(hina) rml
