The head of the Osijek county police crime section, Zeljko Vajda, told a news conference last night the first explosion occurred in one of the containers with confiscated or voluntarily handed over weapons and explosive on the department's premises, triggering off a series of blasts. The blasts, which lasted until 3.30 am, have caused extensive damage to the building of the county police department. An on-the-spot investigation should be carried out this morning. The explosive devices thrown out of the department's premises due to the intensity of the blasts will be collected this morning, Vajda said. The police will launch an investigation into the cause of the blasts, Vajda said.
