SARAJEVO, Aug 15 (Hina) - A high-ranking Bosnian Serb officer, accused of war crimes committed in Srebrenica, is expected to voluntarily surrender to UN war crimes tribunal (ICTY) in the course of the day, according to reports of the
Sarajevo media on Wednesday. According to the same sources, this is Lieutenant-Colonel Dragan Jokic who was one of commanders of Bosnian Serb units in eastern Bosnian in 1995 when they overran the Muslim-populated enclave of Srebrenica, which was also at the time a UN safe haven, and committed horrendous war atrocities. According to the local media, Jokic is named in a sealed indictment of the UN tribunal at The Hague. If Jokic really turns himself in to ICTY authorities, he will be the first Bosnian Serb officer to surrender voluntarily.(hina) ms
