According to the poll, conducted in May by an agency called GfK,
even 75.6 percent of respondents support Croatia's accession into
to the Union, while only 11.4 percent is against it.
The percentage of 'supporters' fell as against December when about
78 percent of respondents favoured Croatia's entry to the EU, and
those who opposed it accounted for nine (9) percent.
The percentage of those who are for the membership in the EU goes
permanently around 75 percent, and this minimum fall is
statistically insignificant, but it is possible that it marks the
start of a negative trend," said Gordana Vucinic Palasek of GfK
while presenting the poll.
Regarding the attitude towards the EU, 76.6 percent of respondents
expressed a very positive or mainly positive attitude towards the
Union, 8.9 percent showed mainly negative attitude and 2.5 percent
a very negative attitude.
This poll, which has so far been the third regular semi-annual poll,
covered 1,000 respondents above age of 15 living in 76 towns and
cities throughout Croatia.
