ZAGREB, May 23 (Hina) - "There is a world-wide trend to reduce the duration or abolish military service and Croatia wants to come closer to world standards," Defence Minister Jozo Rados said in Zagreb on Wednesday. He was unable to

The reduction of the duration of military service in Croatia or the
complete abolishment of conscription will be given a more precise
definition in a reconstruction bill which should be forwarded into
parliamentary procedure in September.
The participants in the Defence Ministry round table, university
professors, military analysts, party representatives and military
envoys from Italy, Hungary, and the Netherlands, agreed with Rados
that the decision on the abolishment of military service in Croatia
must be the fruit of agreement among all relevant people and
institutions of the state.
