SPLIT, May 5 (Hina) - Commenting on the news that the Hague war crimes tribunal decided against indicting the Croatian military chief-of-staff, Gen. Petar Stipetic, President Stipe Mesic said on Saturday he had learned about the
decision "from reliable sources although it hasn't been officially confirmed." "Stipetic is an honourable soldier who cannot be linked to crimes, so such a decision from The Hague could have been expected. He is an exceptionally honest man, and not a repentant," the President said in the southern Adriatic city of Split. Gen. Stipetic told reporters earlier he had nothing to say but added he "often wondered why I was a suspect at all."(hina) ha sb
