said Monday during a speech at a regional environment summit in
Bucharest.
The issue of protecting the flora and fauna, the air and water, is

Mesic recalled the responsibility of politicians, their right and
duty to influence the creation of an atmosphere and political will
at a local, regional and global level, with the aim of stopping the
destruction of nature.
Accentuating that investment into protecting the environment is
investment into the future, the President expressed on behalf of
his country support to all local, regional and global efforts and
initiatives aimed at protecting the environment.
The summit participants at the end adopted a final declaration,
committing themselves to strengthen regional cooperation and
support to all efforts, initiatives, activities and measures of
environment protection and preservation, as well as sustainable
development.
