OSIJEK, April 28 (Hina) - A Belgrade-based association of Croatian Serb refugees on Friday requested the Chief Prosecutor of the Hague-based war crimes tribunal, Carla del Ponte, to indict Croatian President Stjepan Mesic for
"instigating and organising war crimes and genocide against Croatian citizens of Serb nationality." Asked to comment on this request during his Saturday visit to Osijek, President Stjepan Mesic said it would be good if war criminals who were walking freely in Belgrade were arrested first. The association has accused Mesic of having conducted propaganda activities aimed at genocide against Serbs and their expulsion and of failing to do anything for their return to Croatia.(hina) sb rml
