ZAGREB, May 3 (Hina) - Journalists from almost all Croatian media on Thursday observed five minutes of "thundering" silence throughout Croatia on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, May 3. The protest, which was organised by the
Croatian Trade Union of Journalists (SNH), started five minutes before noon today. Participating were journalists from Croatian Radio and Television (HRT), Hina, and other major media houses in Croatia. Croatian journalists warn about the inadmissible interference of politics in the work of the media and the jeopardising of their basic labour and professional rights. They also support the signing of a collective work agreement which would regulate more fairly the status of journalists and media employees and put an end to the widespread black labour in the media.
