BELGRADE, April 14 (Hina) - Three Serbian civilians, who were kidnapped by the Liberation Army of Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja ten days ago, were released on Saturday afternoon. The Serbs, residents of the southern Serbian
municipality of Vranje, were handed over to Kosovo Force (KFOR) representatives in the Kosovo town of Konculj. A local Kosovo Albanian military commander said the release was a "humanitarian gesture" which should contribute to "a peaceful resolution of the crisis in the region." He added the Albanian side now expected "positive steps" from Serbian authorities. The Belgrade news agency Beta today quoted well-informed sources as saying the two Serbian soldiers captured by the Liberation Army would be released tomorrow. The Serb civilians were abducted on April 4 in the Presevo area
whereas the soldiers were captured on March 21 at Veliki Trnovac
after they had gone astray in their vehicle. According to Beta, the
soldiers are being held prisoner in the mountains in the area
bordering with southern Serbia.
