YUGOSLAVIA RELEASES THREE CROATS CONVICTED OF ESPIONAGE

BELGRADE, March 29 (Hina) - Three Croats convicted of espionage in Yugoslavia in 1995, were released on Thursday afternoon and immediately upon their release they travelled to their homes, and are expected to arrive in Croatia around 7PM. Marin Maric from Bosnia-Herzegovina's Kremec was sentenced to 13 years in prison, Nedjeljko Varicak from Gorjani was sentenced to 10 years in prison while Zeljko Draskovic from Kanice was sentenced to 9 years in prison. The three Croats were released today from a prison in Subotica after they were granted pardon by Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica. Up until last year, the three Croats were serving their sentences in a prison in Srijemska Mitrovica, but after a mutiny in the institution they were transferred to the prison in Subotica.
