ZAGREB, March 26 (Hina) - Based on Article 98 of the Constitution and Article 1 of the Amnesty Law, and at the motion of the Amnesty Commission, dating March 23, Croatian President Stipe Mesic amnestied five Croatian citizens of Serb
nationality, the President's Office said in a statement Monday. The persons who were granted amnesty are Vaso Graovac, Milenko Milankovic, Milos Horvat, Bogdan Banic and Djuro Kuzmanovic. All five persons submitted appeals for pardon, and have already served the majority of their sentences. All of them were sentences for committing war crimes against civilians and genocide. The Amnesty Commission suggested the President to grant pardon to the five Serbs in exchange for the release of five Croatian imprisoned in Serbia, of whom two have already been released, read the statement. sentenced to 10 years, Nedjeljko Varicak, sentenced to 12 years and
Zeljko Draskovic, sentenced to nine years. All three have already
