ZAGREB, March 28 (Hina) - On behalf of Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) members in the House of Counties, Ivan Brlekovic on Wednesday said he was positively and pleasantly surprised at today's ruling of the Constitutional Court that it
could not proclaim null and void the House of Representatives' decision to embark on constitutional changes. The Constitutional Court on Wednesday unanimously rejected a request of members of the House of Counties and a proposal of a group of members of the House of the Representatives who urged the Court to proclaim null and void the 14 March decision, adopted by the House of Representatives, on embarking on changing the Constitution. The Court maintains that the contended decision is not subject of the assessment of this court. (HDZ) members in the House of Counties, Ivan Brlekovic on Wednesday
said he was positively and pleasantly surprised at today's ruling
of the Constitutional Court that it could not proclaim null and void
the House of Representatives' decision to embark on constitutional

The Constitutional Court on Wednesday unanimously rejected a
request of members of the House of Counties and a proposal of a group
of members of the House of the Representatives who urged the Court
to proclaim null and void the 14 March decision, adopted by the
House of Representatives, on embarking on changing the
Constitution. The Court maintains that the contended decision is
not subject of the assessment of this court.
"I am pleasantly and positively surprised with the Constitutional
Court's ruling, as it did not refute our request, but only refused
it treating (it) as premature," Brlekovic claimed commenting on the
court's ruling.
He announced that after the adoption of the constitutional
amendments, the House of Counties would lodge another appeal with
the Constitutional Court asking it to assess whether the procedure
of the adoption of the constitutional amendments was in compliance
with the Constitution.
