ZAGREB, March 28 (Hina) - The Croatian Constitutional Court on
Wednesday unanimously rejected a request of members of the House of
Counties and a proposal of a group of members of the House of the
House of the Representatives who urged the Court to proclaim null
and void the 14 March decision, adopted by the House of
Representatives, on embarking on changing the Constitution.
The Court maintains that the contended decision is not subject of
the assessment of this court.
It established that there was neither legal nor factual possibility
to assess the material accordance of the constitutional provisions
with any higher legal act, because that the Constitution is the
fundamental and the highest legal act of the state.
The Court has not decided on any temporary measure, which some MPs
asked in order to discontinue further activities of the lower house
(the House of Representatives) in the procedure of the adoption of
the constitutional amendments, given that it (the Court) has not
assessed the contended decision.
