ZAGREB, March 17 (Hina) - The number of those who had a job in Croatia continued to fall in the beginning of 2001, after it fell under 1.3 million in December last year. According to provisional figures of the national Statistical
Office, there were 1,291,905 employed people in January falling by 0.6 percent (i.e 7,843 persons) as against the previous month. In January, companies employed 1,008,415 persons (by 0.6 percent less) compared to December 2000. The same decrease of 0.6 percent was registered in crafts, small businesses and some free-lance occupations where there were 205,342 employees. The number of farmers fell by 1.1. percent to 78,148. Comparisons between this January and January 2000 show even more unfavourable trends.
