The shipment is intended for an aluminium factory in the nearby Bosnian town of Mostar. This is one of this year's biggest import shipments for the Mostar factory. According to port authorities, Ploce recorded a 230,000tn turnover for the factory in 2000. This year, Ploce will import 250,000tn of alumina, petrol-coke, and bitumen for Mostar, while exporting some 70,000tn of raw aluminium and light alloy for the European and overseas markets. The figures account for some 60 percent of the port's entire turnover. They will also significantly increase Croatian Railways transport in the area and make the Mostar aluminium factory Ploce's principal business partner.(hina) ha
