ZAGREB, March 6 (Hina) - Unemployment in Croatia continues to grow -in late February the Employment Bureau registered 388,861 jobless persons, which is 2,693 persons more than in January, when the unemployment rate reached 23 percent,
the Bureau reported. Compared to February 2000, last month's figures were higher by some 33,500 persons or 9.5 percent. During February, 22,953 new job-seekers registered with the Bureau, whereas 10,501 unemployed found employment. Another 9,659 persons were eliminated from the register for other reasons. At the same time, 13,575 vacancies were registered with the Bureau. Women account for 52.8 percent of the unemployed and about 105,000 persons or 27 percent of the total number of the jobless are first-time job-seekers.
