ZAGREB, March 16 (Hina) - The Alliance for Kosovo's Future (ABK)
condemns any violence, it fully respects the sovereignty and
territorial integrity of Macedonia and supports the country's
efforts to re-establish stability, ABK president Ramush Haradinaj
said in Zagreb on Friday.
Haradinaj is heading a delegation of Kosovo's third largest
political party on a three-day visit to Zagreb, where it arrived at
the invitation of the Union of Albanians. Ahead of today's news
conference, the delegation met senior Croatian officials,
including Croatian President Stjepan Mesic.
The ABK does not want violence of any kind, but it wishes to,
together with other political factors, "strengthen civil society
and build democratic institutions of independent Kosovo, which
will fully respect minority and human rights," Haradinaj said.
The Kosovo delegation arrived in Croatia to seek support in
attempts to build democratic society in Kosovo. According to
Haradinaj, President Mesic supported their efforts, urging that
all political parties in Kosovo try to actively contribute to
lessening tensions in the area.
Kosovo Albanian forces are in no way participating in conflicts in
Macedonia, Haradinaj said answering a reporter's question.
"We fully respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of
neighbouring Macedonia and support its efforts to re-establish
stability," the Kosovo politician said, adding this was the stand
of all more important political factors in Kosovo.
It is indisputable that Presevo is part of Serbia, Haradinaj said,
adding though that tensions in that area had been caused by Serbs
who wanted to make Albanians look like terrorists.
Asked whether he could substantiate his claim, Haradinaj said this
had been the policy of Slobodan Milosevic during all conflicts in
the past decade.
Although Milosevic is not in power, the police and armed forces are
the same forces which committed crimes in Croatia and Bosnia-
Herzegovina, said Haradinaj, hoping problems would be resolved
peacefully and through talks now that the Yugoslav authorities had
changed.
However, international presence in Presevo is necessary due to the
fact that nothing significant had changed in the Yugoslav army and
police forces, he added.
