MOSTAR, Feb 14 (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-
Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) on Wednesday decided to discontinue its
participation in the establishment of bodies of authority both on
the level of Bosnia-Herzegovina and its Croat-Muslim entity, the
Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The party's national committee, which held a session in Mostar
today, also called on the signatories to the Dayton peace
agreement, particularly Croatia, to voice their stand on "the one-
sided and unconstitutional change of the Dayton peace agreement
exclusively to the detriment of the Croat people."
The party said it rejected what it deemed the illegal change of
election rules for the Federation parliament and the cancellation
of consensus to the detriment of the Croat people.
According to the new election rules, adopted by the OSCE Mission in
the country, Croat and Muslim deputies from cantonal assemblies
would no longer be elected to the Federation House of Peoples only
by their respective ethnic groups, but by all parties sitting in
cantonal assemblies.
The HDZ believes the election of Croat deputies to the federation
parliament would be affected by Bosniak deputies, who they fear
would outnumber Croats.
The party also condemned the appointment of the new chairman of the
state Council of Ministers from among the Croat people, Bozidar
Matic, by the Bosniak and Serb members of the state presidency, and,
the party said, against the will of the Croat presidency member,
Ante Jelavic.
