CROATIA CONDEMNS EXTREMIST ATTACKS IN MACEDONIA

ZAGREB, March 6 (Hina) - Croatia harshly condemned extremist attacks at the Macedonia-Kosovo border and expressed concerned about a possible escalation of conflicts which aim at the subversion of security in Macedonia and prevention of the normalisation of the situation in the southern Yugoslav province of Kosovo, as well as the intensification of relations in the entire region, the Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday. We would like to express our condolences about human lives lost in terrorist acts. We condemn the incidents along the Macedonian border with Kosovo, as well as threats aiming at preventing the international community's activities in the region, read the statement. The statement also read that Croatia supported intensified activities of the Macedonian state leadership and appeals forwarded to the European Union, NATO, the United Nations, the Organisation for the Security and Cooperation in Europe, as well the entire international community aiming at calming the present tensions. Croatia also believes that the international community must direct special attention to this issue and take most urgent and most efficient measures in order to prevent the escalation of violence and all threats to security, integrity and sovereignty of the friendly Republic of Macedonia.
