ZAGREB, Feb 13 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic and Admiral Guido Venturoni, chairman of the NATO Military Committee, discussed Croatia's aspirations to join NATO and the situation in the region, in Zagreb on Tuesday. NATO
appreciates Croatia's efforts to join the organisation and is willing to provide assistance both on the level of the institution and through relations between its members and Croatia, Venturoni said adding Croatia could contribute significantly to resolving problems in the region. Croatia's strategic aim is admission to NATO and the European Union, the modernisation of military equipment and NATO's assistance in the education of Croatian officers, a statement issued after the meeting quoted Mesic as saying.
