ZAGREB, Feb 6 (Hina) - Croatian Defence Minister Jozo Rados on
Tuesday opened a simulation centre of the Croatian Armed Forces'
Main Staff's Training Command, which is to train Croatian officers
for commanding units and participating in future peace
operations.
Croatia's admission to Partnership for Peace widens our
obligations, Rados said opening the centre on the second
anniversary of the Training Command. Attending the ceremony were
the Armed Forces' Chief-of-Staff, General Petar Stipetic, US
Ambassador Lawrence Rossin, members of the military-diplomatic
corps and other high officials from the Defence Ministry and Main
Staff.
Thanking all who participated in the establishment of the centre,
especially US officers, Rados said this was the beginning of
operation of a network of simulation centres which would apply
modern training trends. Our aim is not to establish an elite army
but an elite state and an army the country can be proud of, Rados
said.
General Stipetic offered his best wishes on the second anniversary
of the Training Command and thanked US officers working in Croatia
within a MPRI programme.
Rados and Stipetic then made a tour of the simulation centre.
Using computer equipment, the centre can fully simulate combat
situations and situations in peace missions. The system enables
major economies during the training process and is in full
compliance with the standards of western armies.
