ZAGREB, Jan 15 (Hina) - The administrative board of Zagreb's
'Dubrava' clinic on Monday relieved the hospital's head Dr Veljko
Bozikov of his post for allowing quack doctor Sinisa Filipovic to
work as a volunteer in the hospital, the head of the administrative
board, Dr Mirko Gjurasin, told reporters.
The board appointed Miso Virag, head of the clinic's maxilofacial
surgery ward, the hospital's acting head and decided to invite
applications for the new head of the hospital.
The board also dissolved a commission for internal control for
failing to carry out its duties in 'the Filipovic case' and
suggested that a new commission be formed, which would be entrusted
with submitting monthly reports on the situation in the hospital.
The board recommended that a disciplinary procedure be initiated
against the head of the cardiosurgery ward, Dr Zeljko Sutlic,
because he withheld information about the quack doctor from his
superiors.
Disciplinary procedures will be initiated against other
responsible persons as well.
Once the investigation into the case is completed, Health Minister
Ana Stavljenic Rukavina will issue a statement on the case.
Zagreb police last week pressed charges against Sinisa Filipovic on
suspicion of quackery, impersonation and the forging of documents.
During 1999 and 2000 Filipovic worked in two Zagreb hospitals as a
volunteer.
