The decision on the strike is out of force pending a ruling by
Zagreb's county court, the union said in a statement.
The union's presidency said it had decided against going on strike
today for humane reasons, to avoid problems for citizens before the
Christmas holidays.
The union said that even though it was in dispute with a government
reluctant to resolve the material and social status of customs
officers through social dialogue, customs officers nevertheless
wanted Croatia's citizens to spend the coming holidays without any
pressures.
The government and the customs administration said yesterday the
strike announced for today was unlawful and baseless, while the
state prosecutor's office pressed charges against the organisers.
The customs union demands a 25 percent increase in base pay and
other customs officers' rights.
