The event was organised by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK),
the society of managers in public health and societies of Croatian
doctors and dentists.
He presented some figures showing that expenses had increased and
exceeded the economic potentials of the country.
The number of patients has risen at the annual level from 621,000 to
679,000 for the last five years, and the number of examinations
performed by specialists from 40 million to 54 million. The income
of the Croatian Health Insurance Institute (HZZO) increased from
eight billion to 13 billion kuna (approximately 1.745 billion
euros).
The consumption of medicines climbed by 100 percent in the last five
years, Simonic said.
