BELGRADE, Dec 8 (Hina) - Serbia's repeat presidential ballot on Sunday failed because only 44.9 percent of 6.5 million eligible voters went to the polls, the Centre for Free Elections and Democracy said, recalling that more than half
the registered electorate has to vote for the election to be valid.

According to the first preliminary results, 2.95 million voters
cast their ballots, of which 58 percent voted for incumbent
Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica and 35.8 percent for
Vojislav Seselj, the Serb Radicals' leader.
The third presidential candidate, Party of Serb Unity Borislav
Pelevic, received 3.4 percent of the vote.
