"I have not been informed of it sufficiently," Racan said on
Thursday evening when he was asked by reporters whether his cabinet
knew that President Stjepan Mesic was harmonising the views with
another four heads of state of western Balkan countries on their
address to the EU.
"I have not been precisely notified of the idea, I would not talk
about it," the premier said adding that no information had been
forwarded to him by President Mesic on the matter.
The Croatian daily "Novi list" reported on Thursday that the Ivica
Racan cabinet distanced itself from the letter.
Asked to comment on the government's reaction, Mesic said: "It (the
letter) was not sent to the government and I do not know why the
government has distanced itself from it. If no reference is made to
somebody, I do not see why they should voice their opinion."
