Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski on Wednesday said in
Brussels that the heads of state of five south-east European
countries would ask the EU leaders at Macedonia's initiative to
support their countries' bids to come closer to the Union.
The Croatian daily "Novi list" immediately reported that the Ivica
Racan cabinet distanced itself from the letter.
Asked to comment on the government's reaction, Mesic said: "It (the
letter) was not sent to the government and I do not know why the
government has distanced itself from it. If no reference is made to
somebody, I do not see why they should voice their opinion."
