Speaking as a witness for the defence of Tihomir Oreskovic, Johman
testified that at the time he was head of the medical centre during
the first year of the war 700 wounded and 92 killed people had been
admitted to the hospital, of whom 20 percent were civilians.
He said that Serbs who had remained in Gospic had not been abused by
anybody.
A testimony was also given by Marko Jagetic who was a medical corps
commander of a local unit of the former Yugoslav People's Army (JNA)
when the Gospic military barracks fell.
Jagetic said that before the surrender of JNA barracks, he had
negotiated with indictee Tihomir Oreskovic. After JNA troops left,
he remained working at Gospic's medical centre.
The trial continues tomorrow.
Oreskovic is the first indictee in the Gospic Group of men accused
of war crimes against civilians in the Gospic area in the autumn of
1991.
