RIJEKA, Nov 26 (Hina) - The main hearing at the trial of the so-

before the panel of judges at the Rijeka County Court. #L#
The trial was adjourned for tomorrow, when witnesses Ivan Dasovic
and Smiljan Reljic are to testify about the authenticity of a
recorded statement which Dasovic, who was the Gospic police chief
at the time, gave to Reljic, the then head of the crime police in the
Croatian Interior Ministry, about the abductions and killings of
local residents in late 1991. Reljic and Dasovic accused defendants
- Tihomir Oreskovic and Mirko Norac - of those events.
The trial of the Gospic Group (consisting of Oreskovic, Norac,
Ivica Rozic, Stjepan Grandic and Milan Canic), indicted for war
crimes, is nearing a completion.
A few remaining defence witnesses are to testify, and then the
prosecution and defence lawyers will give their closing arguments.
After that, a verdict is expected.
