RIJEKA, Nov 28 (Hina) - The Rijeka County Court has accepted new
evidence in the trial of the so-called Gospic group after
graphologists established that the documents in question had been
written by the head of the Gospic police public security service in
1991, Zeljko Bolf. #L#
During a previous testimony, Bolf stated that he could not
recognise the handwriting in the documents and reports in
question.
A report which Bolf had given to an unnamed person or service in the
Interior Ministry was read out at the trial today. The report
charges indictees Tihomir Oreskovic and Mirko Norac with having
organised the abduction and execution of civilians.
The report, which refers to the autumn of 1991, notes that Oreskovic
took over authority in Gospic with the help of military police.
Describing the so-called deadly meeting which was attended by
almost all important figures in Gospic at the time and which
preceded the execution of civilians at Pazariste, in which people
attending the meeting took part, Bolf said that Mirko Norac had told
the gathered they had to "liquidate a group of Serbs".
During the liquidation, he kept shouting "Shoot, shoot, what are
you waiting for! Who hasn't shot yet?", reads the report. Bolf also
claims Oreskovic told him that some of the people invited to the
meeting had to prove their loyalty to the Croatian authorities by
participating in the execution.
Both Oreskovic and Norac said the report was false. Their defence
requested that the report not be included in the court file, which
the court refused.
The trial resumes on Monday, December 2.
