ZAGREB, Nov 27 (Hina) - The co-ordinating body of teachers' trade unions stage a one-day strike on Wednesday in all secondary Croatian schools and some primary schools, as unionists have not managed to agree with the government on an increase in salaries. #L# In addition to the strike which will last from 08.00 am to 08.00 pm today, the co-ordinating body consisting of five teachers' unions, will organise a protest rally in front of the government's building at noon. The unionists asked for a 20-percent rise in wages for teachers in elementary and high schools so that their salaries might reach the level of wages paid from the state budget to other employees. According to the president of the independent union of high school employees, Andrija Puljevic, more than 50,000 elementary and high school employees will participate in the strike. The Education Ministry described the strike as unnecessary given that negotiations on the salaries are under way. (hina) it
