ZAGREB, Nov 26 (Hina) - The co-ordinating body of teachers' trade

In addition to the strike which will last from 08.00 am to 08.00 pm
tomorrow, the co-ordinating body consisting of five teachers'
unions, will organise a protest rally in front of the government's
building on the same day.
The unionists asked for a 20-percent rise in wages for teachers in
elementary and high schools so that their salaries might reach the
level of wages paid from the state budget to other employees.
The Education Ministry described the announced strike as
unnecessary given that negotiations on the salaries are under way.
The biggest union of primary school teachers will not join in
tomorrow's action.
This union's leader, Dalimir Kuba, said they were now negotiating
on a collective agreement for employees in primary education, and
that as long as the negotiations were being held there would be no
strike.
